About this Spelling Checker
This is a client-side spell checker that uses built-in dictionaries for Portuguese, English, and Spanish. It identifies misspelled words and suggests corrections using Levenshtein distance (edit distance) to find the closest matches in the dictionary.
- Dictionaries contain common words for each language (1000+ words per language)
- Suggestions are computed by finding dictionary words within 2 character edits of the misspelled word
- Custom words you add are saved in your browser's localStorage
- Limitations: This is a basic checker. It may not catch all errors and some correctly spelled words may be flagged as errors (especially proper nouns, technical terms, or less common words)
How to Use
1. Select the language
2. Type or paste your text
3. Click "Check Spelling"
4. Review the correction suggestions
